Installed in critical wildland-urban interface areas across Woodside, Portola Valley, and unincorporated parts of San Mateo County, these AI sensors play a key role in early wildfire detection, which is crucial in preventing widespread damage. The sensors analyze gas, particulate matter, and heat, utilizing solar power to operate efficiently. This installation follows similar deployments in other Bay Area regions such as Santa Clara County and Oakland, where the technology has been active for over a year.

The initiative is part of an ongoing program supported by the Department of Homeland Security’s Science and Technology Directorate and N5 Sensors.
